Capped composite boards consist of wood fiber bonded with a polymer and wrapped in a protective shell. Solid PVC boards contain no wood fiber, so there is no pathway for moisture absorption or rot at the board level. For most residential projects, capped composite performs well. For high-moisture applications, solid PVC is the more conservative option.
